Equality for All

Dehumanizing is the first step to violence or killing. Defining your victim as
something other than human, while defining yourself as something superior is how it always starts. “Women are inferior to men” being the oldest example. “Savage Indian” worked well, and is still working well, for the land and resource greedy settlers. “Dumb nigger” supported the slave economy for centuries. “The only good Arab is a Dead Arab” defines the Israeli military. What is the true social cost of shooting schoolgirls in the face or throwing acid on their face to prevent them from attending school to challenge the male definition, “Women are inferior to men”? How much money does the US Government spend helping “Savage Indians” on the reservations they created over 100 years ago to solve the “Indian problem”? American slaves were beaten, raped, and called “Dumb nigger” for generations. It seems a little optimistic to expect them to forgive and forget while being nice and playing by the rules. Finally, one of the most expensive, longest lasting, group conflicts: the Arab-Israeli conflict. You can’t kill your way to peace, even if your God gave you the land that makes you kill. Peace at the end of a gun is not peace at all. Once again, throughout human history we find conflict after conflict between groups over land and resourses.
The three most costly forms of bad behavior happen to all be predominately male bad behavior: killing, violence, and discrimination. The victims always include children, women, and minorities. The Economics of Goodness is their voice for peace. What would our societies look like without these bad behaviors? How much productivity could we save and utilize for other social functions if we could reduce or eliminate these bad behaviors? What would it take to change individual male choices away from bad behavior towards good behaviors?
